We got back from Alaska last friday and I have been pooped out since then. We spent two days before the cruise in Seattle and toured the town, went on the DUCKS mobile, and saw the orca whales on Friday Harbor, one of the baby whales thought it would be funny to swim right under our boat upside down, it scared the ba-jesus out of me. Once we got on the ship we left for Juneau, Ak. When we got there we went salmon fishing, kind of a joke, freezing cold, and rainy, but beautiful. We saw lots of humpback whales fishing, those suckers are brave, they get really close to the boat blow crap out of the blow hole and pop out of the water a little and go back down. The only downfall, we ended up with one fish between the four of us. I probably wouldnt do it again for how pricy it was, we shopped alot in juneau where I got a picture frame made from antlers (fake antlers since it was cheap) a cute tin sign that has a moose on it, above the moose it says "we are moosly a cute family" perfect for my cabin decor in the house. After Juneau we went did 2 days of cruising and went to Skagway, AK where we rode the way cool train up the mountains into canada, where they wouldnt let you take pictures at the customs on the canadian/us border, I was so tempted too. The ride was beautiful and we got alot more pictures than whats on the video but i dont think anyone wants to sit through them all, about 1500 of them. Skagway was very cute, when we wre done on the train we panned for authentic alaskan gold purchased in canada. They bought it in canada, mixed it with dirt and let us pan it the easy way, I had so much fun, being in the woods is right up my alley. I absolutley loved juneau ang skagway. After another day of cuising we ended up in Prince Rupert, BC, Cananda. Nothing too exciting about this town. I gave my butt a good work out by walking the town twice, not too bad right? Until I realized the town was mostly up hill. We saw tons of eagles, and just relaxed and enjoyed not being at work, or in vegas. The weather majority of the time was in the 50's-low 60's. the first few days on the cruise it was rainy, windy, and freezing. But whatever, i wasnt in vegas and thats all that mattered. The second best part of the cruise was the glacier, oh gaosh it was beeeeeautiful, so blue and noisy. i got a good picture of part of it breaking off, it was just so cool, lots of seal were hanging out on pieces of the glacier, they actually reminded me of Mator; how he just lays around the house and lifts his head up to say hi, lick my face and go back to sleep. The captains dinners were fun dressing up, but the food reminded me of regulr food here at applebees/olive garden. When we finally got back home the dogs were a little upset that we didnt come home from work the first day, they are so used to us taking them everywhere we go, and when we leave its usually to work for 9 hours and then its time for dinner, they probably thought we had a really long work day....poor kids.
Anywho, I loved alaska, even when it was freezing and windy, and I will definitley be going back again, enjoy the pictures!
