I talked to my stepmom last nigth and she said there was nothing really new, other than that he was moving his legs alot yesterday. She also said that they had been talking back and forth with one of the rehab places in Denver about when he could come, but hadn't heard back from them as of last night. Our town also has a few benefits set up in my dads name, and an account was opend to raise money for them, It's times like these where living in a small town has it's advantages. The people there have the hearts the size of texas, you may not know everyone and everyone may not know you, (even though it seems like they all know you and your business) but they do now, and when one of their own is hurt, they step up and help out however they can, the town of Belle Fourche has been my families rock.
When i got home from work today I was making a gourmet dinner of tuna samiches and my uncle called. Of course my stomach sank, he said that he wanted to update me on my dad. He said that they will be flying him to Denver and that Dr. Schindler (eery to have a dr. with that name) thought he was fine to fly. They will be taking him to a rehab in denver that specializes in waking people up out of their comas and brain injuries. I have the name written down but don't want to get up to get the name. We expect that he will be there for about 4 to 6 weeks, but with hospitals, rehabs, and doctors that could change. Once he is awake and in good enough shape they will move him to another rehab to exercise and work him from there. The mine will pay from my little brother and sister to fly to Denver 2 times a month, and from what I hear Bradley will be returning to Boise and once he gets things figured out there he will be going to denver to be with dad. When we were in rapid city he was trying to get an extra week leave, and his Sgt. never got back to him so he assumed it wasn't approved, he never got any calls or emails. When he retuned to Iraq, his sgt. said it was approved, boy was he mad. So now they are talking about letting him leave on a family emergency. So he will be coming home sooner thatn expected, hopefully the Army will actually stick to what they say for once.
So I got some good news about dad today, that made my very long day at work a thing of the past. Dad also lifted his leg and bent it at the knee today, so little improvements to us are huge mountains to him, and he is sure climbing those mountains in a great way, i know he has it in him to beat this, I know he will wake up, I know he will walk again, he will take my little brother hunting, go fishing, build things, and be a daddy to his young children again and coach their soccer games, go to boy scout meetings, and go hiking. The day he goes home to Belle Fourche will be the most beautiful day of our lives, and there will definitley be some celebrating.
keep praying, they are helping a-l-o-t.
